Computer Use Policy

To maximize computer availability, and to ensure fair accessibility for all, the following rules shall apply:

  1. Users are required to be a current Wyoming Free Library patron, and to complete the Computer User Agreement Form, which is kept on file at the Circulation Desk.
  2. A signed Parental Consent Form is required before the Wyoming Free Library will provide Internet access to any youth under the age of sixteen (16).
  3. Children under the age of ten (10) must have a parent at the computer with them at all times.
  4. Only two (2) people are allowed at the computer at a time. Both users will be held accountable for damages. No one is permitted to stand behind the users and converse or watch.
  5. Library users are expected to comply with all local, state, and federal laws while using the Internet. Patrons found to have violated any laws (including, but not limited to those concerning copyright, fraud, privacy, "hacking", or obscenity) while using Library facitlities or equipment may have their Internet privileges revoked.
  6. The Library staff will assist in the initial start-up of the system and will provide additional assistance as time allows.
  7. Users may print materials on the Library printers for a fee. Users may download information onto floppy disks. This disk may not be used again in the Library as there is no way to guarantee its security once it leaves the Library.
  8. The Wyoming Free Library makes no warranty, expressed or implied, nor assumes responsibility for the content, timeliness, accuracy or usefulness of any information accessed via the Internet.
  9. The Library does not provide individual e-mail accounts; however, Internet-based e-mail is available. Unauthorized disclosure, use, and dissemination of personal identification information regarding minors are prohibited. To the extent practical, staff will monitor e-mail, chat, and instant messaging used by minors to assure safe and secure use.
  10. Users may not make any changes to the computers' system files or programs. No files or programs may be downloaded to the computers and stored or installed on their hard drives. No files or programs may be brought in on disk or CD-ROM and installed on the computers' hard drives. Users must operate in the Windows environment, and may not exit to, or operate in the DOS environment.
  11. All copyright laws must be obeyed, including, but not limited to, the downloading and use of copyrighted materials. We do not condone, nor will we tolerate, using our computer resources to break any law.
  12. Deliberate damage to any of the computers' hardware or software will not be tolerated. Any problems with the hardware or software should be reported immediately to Library staff.
